All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Marguerite Middleton 7 Feb 1947 - Miss Marguerite Middleton, daughter of the late Dr. James Monroe and Letha Smith Midleton of Many expired February 4, following a short illness. Miss Middleton was a graduate of Many high school and Mansfield college, attended Northwestern State college. Natchitoches, and received her A. B. degree from Centenary college, Shreveport. At the time of her death, Miss Middleton was a member of the Queensborough school faculty of Shreveport, having taught in this school for the past 23 years. She was a life-long member of the Many Methodist church, of which her late father was one of the early founders. She leaves a host of friend, both young and old. Her rich, full life will live on, reflected in the lives of the hundreds of Shreveport citizens to whom she gave early instruction in her classroom. She is survived by her step-mother, Mrs. J. M. Middleton, Many; four sisters, Mrs. W. D. Truluck, Arcadia, Misses Ruth and Leelia Middleton, Many, Miss Elizabeth Middleton, New Orleans; three brothers, J. M. Middleton, Carthage, Texas, J. S. Middleton, Pineville, Charles Middleton, Baton Rouge; five nieces, Marian Middleton, Pineville, Mrs. Leroy Miller, Bogalousa, Mrs. Peggy Rogers and Mrs. Theodore Schriber, Tampa, Fla; two nephews Joel and Randolph Middleton, students of Centenary college, Shreveport. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Methodist church of Many, with Rev. S. L. Riggs of Shreveport officiating, assisted by Rev. R. T. Pynes, Rev. L. N. Hoffpauir and Rev. C. W. Williams. Interment followed in the Many cemetery under the direction of Massingill funeral home. Active pallbearers were J. H. Vandegaer, Georg Boyens, Earl Meharg, Van Vines, Edwin Fraser, Middleton Phillips, Jack Jordan, Joe McNeely.
