Rev. Sammy Giddens, and Rev. Ray Dyess officiated. Burial followed, with Masonic rites, in the Marthaville Cemetery, under the direction of Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel. Mr. Middleton died Tuesday, July 24, at Schumpert Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was a native, and lifelong resident of Marthaville, where he operated Middleton's Grocery for over 30 years. He was a member of the Marthaville Masonic Lodge #453 F&AM, a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Marthaville Chapter #223, a member of the Natchitoches Farm Bureau, the American Quarterhorse Association, and Louisiana Cattlemen's Association. Survivors include Marie Smith Middleton, his wife of 52 years, of Marthaville; three daughters and their families, Billie Ann and Harold Pierce, Jim, and Richard Prudhomme, and Glen Pierce, all of Carthage, Texas, Shirley and Randall Hennigan, and Leah Ann, and Angela Henningan of Marthaville, Pam and Ron Dyes, and Dean Dyes of Marthaville; one sister, Ruby Gray of Houston, Texas; one sister-in-law, Billie Jean Warren of Shreveport. Pallbearers were members of the Masonic lodge. Honorary pallbearers were Reginald Moore, Dale Moore, robert Baxter Sr., James Hall, Hoyt birdwell, Floyd Glover, and Arden Settle Sr.
