Stoker and Marquette Miller were killed in a car accident on the Natchitoches-Coushatta highway last Sunday morning, auto apparently overturning several times. The fatal crash occurred early Sunday morning. A few minutes after the accident Clark Jackson of Natchitoches saw the tangled wreckage, stopped to investigate, finding Stoker and Miller unconscious, rushing them to the Natchitoches sanitarium. Miller died almost immediately after admission to the hospital. Stoker died at eleven o'clock Sunday morning. Neither victim regained consciousness after the accident and exact circumstances surrounding the fatal accident are not known. Funeral services for James Thedford Stoker were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Jesup Baptist church, Rev. J. M. Pate officiating. Interment was in the Ft. Jesup. Theddie, as he was known by his many friends, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stoker of Ft. Jesup, had been connected with Sabine State Bank for the past seventeen years as bookkeeper, in which capacity he was highly esteemed by the officers and directors of that institution and by his many friends. Mr. Stoker is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stoker of Ft. Jesup; four brothers, M. R. Stoker of Many, Evie of Ft. Jesup, DeWitt of Robeline, E. R. of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mrs. Jim Smith of Robeline, Miss Vera Stoker of Baton Rouge, and Miss Oleta Stoker of Many. Funeral services for Marquette Miller was held at Antioch Baptist church Monday at 1:00 p.m., Rev. J. M. Pate officiating. Marquette was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dess Miller of Dess, La., and a valued employee of the Curtis Motor company of Coushatta. Surviving Mr. Miller are is parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dess Miller of Dess, La., one brother, Tony of Memphis, Tenn., three sisters, Mrs. L. L. Curtis of Coushatta, Mrs. Ponder Salter of Clare, Miss Juanita Miller of Dess.
