Charles Miller, age 24. His death resulted from wounds received in action on Luzon, Philippine islands, Jan. 13, 1945. Sgt. Miller was inducted into the army Feb. 16, 1942 and had served heroically for 35 months in the infantry. He received is basic training at Camp Shelby, Miss., was immediately sent overseas where he participated in a number of major battles on well known islands, including the Russells, Tarawa, New Georgis, Caledonia, Guadalacanal and others besides his last battle on Luzon. With almost three years of combat duty, Sgt. Miller's military life would make an interesting chapter in the history of World War II and it is with deep pride and gratitude that we will remember the supreme sacrifice he made for his country and for us. Surviving are: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Miller, Many; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde E. Anthony, and Gail, Many; four brothers, James of Beaumont, Texas, Billie Rae of Many, Hebert in the Philipine islands, and Force, Assam, India.
