Miller, 77, of Alexandria died Tuesday, July 31, in Rapides Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m., Thursday, July 31, at the chapel of John Kramer & Son, with interment following in the Alexandria Memorial Gardens. Mr. Miller was a Deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an active member in both the Alexandria Association for Deaf, and the Louisiana Association for the Deaf. Additionally, he was a leader in the Deaf community throughout the state of Louisiana. He retired from Cotton's Holsum Bakery after 41 years of work. Survivors include his widow, Effie Miller of Alexandria; four daughters, Wanda Lee Miller of Alexandria, Sheila Mae Balfe of Tucson, Ariz., Sharon Sue Collins of Friendswood, Texas, and Delores Alice Miller of Bethesda, Md.; one son, Garlan W. Miller of La Canada Flintridge, Calif.; one sister, Bonnie Quillen of Uhrichsville, Ohio; and five grandsons.
