All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** William Max Miller William Max Miller, 42, of Hornbeck, an employee of State Police Troop H in Leesville, was killed instantly at 2:49 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, in an accident during rain, about two and one half miles south of Hornbeck, on U. S. Hwy. 171. State Police said the accident occurred when a refrigerator truck, driven by Billy Joe Murdock Jr., 25, of Hooks, Texas, went out of control, crossed over into the opposite lane, and turned over onto the pickup Miller was driving. Murdock was not injured. Vernon Parish Coroner, Dr. S. J. Jones, pronounced Miller dead at the scene of the accident at 3:20 p.m. Services for Miller were conducted Friday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m., at Antioch Baptist Church in Florien, with the Rev. Willie Rae Curtis, and the Rev. Bobby McCullough officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Miller of Hornbeck; and one sister, Mrs. Ray Curtis of Springhill. The fatality was the 14th for Vernon Parish this year.
