Funeral services were conducted Sunday, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in New Iberia, with the Rev. David Martin officiating. Funeral services were also held Monday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m., at the Mount Freedom Baptist Church in Many, with the Rev. Earl Marr officiating. Burial was in the Mount Freedom Cemetery in Many, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. The Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia was in charge of the arrangements there. Surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs. Vera Moran Mains; one son, Dr. Jimmy Lee Mains of New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Lewis of New Iberia, and Mrs. Ronnie Broussard of Houma; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Hillman, and Mrs. Selma Taylor, both of Many, Mrs. Lawrence Holgin of Lake Charles, and Mrs. Verde Carroll of Lakewood, Calif.; four brothers, Freeman Mains of Bossier City, Hubert Mains of New Iberia, and Roy, and Elzie Mains, both of Many; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Donald Scaife, Dole Scaife, Dale Scaife, Edwin Lites, Walter Mains, Vernon Hillman, Marvin Veuleman, and Charles Veuleman. Mr. Mains was a resident of New Iberia for 35 years, and a native of Many. He was a retired tool pusher for Texaco; a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a Deacon of the first Baptist Church of New Iberia. He was the husband of the former Vera Moran of New Iberia, and the son of the late Lee Mains, and the late Mary Dillard of Many. Mr. Mains' body was brought to the Warren Meadows Chapel to lie in state Monday, Jan. 24, from 7 a.m., until the time of service at 11 a.m.
