James Monk Jr.

  Funeral services for James R. Monk Jr., 65, were held Aug. 2, in
the Hixson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Leesville Cemetery,
with military graveside rites.

  He died suddenly, Thursday, in a local hospital. He owned and
operated Monk Lumber Co. in Leesville.

  Survivors are his widow; three stepchildren, Charles Miller of
Hornbeck, Mrs. Annice Harmon of Hornbeck, and Mrs. Betty Rice of
Dallas, Tex.; and four sisters, Mrs. Joe Rice Ferguson of
Leesville, Mrs. Glenn R. Nordyke of Baton Rouge, Mrs. J. A.
Perkins of Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. Charles Evans of Oakdale; and
two grandchildren.
