Monts Funeral services for Robert "Blackie" Monts, 75, were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 7, at Miguez Funeral Home. Dr. Jimmy Dobson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was held at the Greenwood Cemetery. A native of Gilmer, Texas, he had lived in the Jennings-Hathaway area for over three years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired shop foreman for Land and Marine Rental Tools, and a member of Elm Baptist Church in Florien. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bud (Louise) Weldon of Hathaway, Mrs. Sonja Bass of Athens, Texas, and Mrs. Patricia Kennel of Dallas; two sons, Robert "Bobby" Monts, and R. L. Ritter, both of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Shelton of Bettie, Texas; two brothers, L. C. Monts of Bettie, and Paul Monts of Hawley, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
