All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Otis Morvan Funeral services for Mr. Otis Morvan, 73, of Blanchard, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 4, 1997, at Wellman Funeral Chapel in Shreveport. Military graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 4, at St. Ann's Cemetery in Spanish Lake. Mr. Morvan died Wednesday, April 2, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 4, 1923, in Robeline, and was a resident of Blanchard. Mr. Morvan was a retired mechanic. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, in the 35th Division, 137 Infantry, a P.O.W. for 7 months and 11 days. Mr. Morvan received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in Sept. 1945, with the American Defense with a Bronze Star, Good Conduct, Asiatic, Europe Defense Medals. Otis Morvan was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and husband. His last words were "I love all of you". We children will miss him, but we know the Lord has answered his prayers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Leola Davis. He is survived by his widow, Lieselotte Morvan; and his children, Willis Morvan, Bobby Morvan, Helen Green, Babette Simmons, Erwin Morvan, and Lisa Koglin; 16 grandchildren; sister, Alice Davis; half brother, Merle Toby; and many nieces and nephews.
