Joseph Rufus Martinez

  Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 14, for Joseph Rufus
Martinez, 58, who passed away Friday, Feb. 12, at the War
Memorial Hospital in Leesville. Rosary was said in Hixson's
Funeral Chapel. Father H. Beckers officiated, and was assisted by
the Rev. Moses at the services, which were held in St. Michaels
Catholic Church in Leesville. Interment was in St. Joseph
Cemetery in Zwolle, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of
Leesville.

  Mr. Martinez was born in Zwolle, but had resided in Leesville
for 23 years. He was the president of Martinez Tie & Lbr. Co.
Inc.

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Ezernack Martinez of
Leesville; one daughter, Mrs. Paula Edwards of DeRidder; two
sons, John Rufus Martinez of Long Beach, Calif., and Joseph L.
Martinez of Leesville; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Simon of
Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Clara Wilkins of Shreveport, and Mrs.
Francis Redding of Zwolle; three brothers, Luther Martinez, and
Franklin Martinez of Zwolle, and Marvin Martinez of DeRidder; and
five grandchildren.
