Martinez, 15, of Zwolle, who was killed in a head-on crash near Zwolle Saturday night, were held at 9 a.m., Monday. The rites were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Robert C. Friend officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Warren Funeral Home of Many. The youth was a passenger in a car driven by Jerry Malmay, 16, of Zwolle. Occupants of the other car were Henry and Leonard Sepulvado, both of Zwolle. State police said the collision occurred when the Sepulvado car, traveling east, attempted to make a left turn on State Hwy. 42. Investigating officers reported the Malmay car skidded 8 feet in an effort to stop before the collision. Henry Sepulvado, father of the driver of the second car, was hospitalized after the wreck. The Martinez youth is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Martinez; two brothers, Charles, and Tommie; a sister, Carolyn; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martinez; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ella Quarles, all of Zwolle. Pallbearers were Thomas, and W. Earl Sepulvado, Benny, Billy, and Donnie Martinez, and Pat Wilkins.
