Moran is survived locally by his brother, Dr. Bobby Brocato; his sister-in-law, Mary Beth Brocato; and his nephew, Robert Brocato. His youngest brother, Bobby, called him Jr., but the rest of the world called him Jimmy Moran, the son of the famous Diamond Jim Moran, the first importer of Fettuccine from Italy's Alfredo. So widespread was his reputation, that after his death, news wire services referred to Jimmy Moran as the "King of Fettuccine". Like his father, Jimmy Moran's influence and power spread throughout the world. It was a well known fact, that each summer, Jimmy Moran would spend a week with Pope John at his summer retreat in Casa Condolflo. As young boys, Jimmy and Bobby started their restaurant careers in the kitchen of their stern father, who taught them to be perfectionists in all walks of life. Jimmy Moran was a decorated officer at the Invasion of South Africa. After World War II, he played an integral part in the New Orleans' vast food operations.
