Meshell, 79, of Noble died after a lengthy illness on May 19, 2004. He was a life long resident of Ebarb and St. Ann's Catholic Church. He was a retired school bus driver, had raised cattle and was in the timber industry for many years. T. J. was a veteran of WWII, during which he was assigned to the 83rd "Thunder Bolt" Division, 330 Infantry, 1st Battalion. His journey started "D-day", then to St. Malo, and off to Luxembourg, to the Hurtgen Forest, to Ardenes, to the Harz Mountains, crossed the Elbe River and met the Russians going into Germany. Their motto "True to the End". Meshell received four bronze campaign stars, two silver stars, and conduct medals and ribbons. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., May 21 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with interment following at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Ebarb. Father Kenneth Williams officiated. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elsie Pearl Meshell of Ebarb, daughters, Karen Brandon and husband Tim, of Keatchie, Nelda Martinez and friend, Scotty Ebarb of Zwolle, and Cheryl Raney and husband Jody of Shreveport, two brothers, Herman Meshell and wife, Maggie, of Noble and Elders Meshell and wife Genese of Monroeville, Ala.; four sisters, Catherine Procell and husband A. J. of Joaquin, Texas, Margie Ebarb of Noble, Theresa Altice of Houston, Texas, and Vernita Goodwin of Shreveport; grandchildren, Alyssa, Leslie, Derrick, Trevor, and Julianne; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Julie Meshell; brother, R. J. Meshell, sister, Rena Rutherford; and daughter, Gail Meshell. Pallbearers were Greg Procell, Robert Manshack, Glen Sepulvado, Ralph Sepulvado, Alben Sepulvado and Randall Martinez.
