Roberta “Robin” Mae Mitchell, 72, of Jal, N.M. passed away Saturday, Jan. 24,
2015 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born Nov. 1, 1942 in Kermit, Texas, to William
and Mae Smell Watson. Roberta was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in
Jal. She married Quinton Mitchell on Sept. 12, 1962, in Lovington, N.M. and they
celebrated 29 years together before his death in 1991. Roberta had a great love
of the Lord and loved her bible studies. Roberta found great joy in reading the
bible and in creating things with arts and crafts. Most everyone knew her as
“Robin” and her grandchildren all called her Gmaw or Grandma. She is survived by
sons, Joe Mitchell and wife, Patti, of Jal, N.M. and Samuel Mitchell of Jal,
N.M.; daughter, Mary Mitchell of Houston, Texas; sister, Carol Mayfield of
Hewett, Texas and grandchildren, Jennifer, George, Kobie, Morgan, Joe, Keely,
Mancy and Shilo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Mitchell;
parents, William and Mae Watson; brothers, William L. and Darryl and sisters,
Marian, Susan and Linda. Funeral services were held Jan. 28, at Calvary Baptist
Church in Jal, N.M. with Pastor Alan Speed officiating. Interment followed Jan.
30, at the Old Robeline Cemetery in Robeline. Pallbearers were Donnie Smith, Joe
Mc- Manes, David Chance, Tommy Watson, Darryl Watson and Bill Harris
Arrangements were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor and online
