Rev. E. E. Fields, pastor First Baptist ch7urch ,Leesville, officiated, Massingill funeral home directing. Surviving are: parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garvis Arrington of Leesville; three brothers, Melwyn, Doyle and Darrell; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Brwon of Florien and Mrs. Oliver Arrington of Leesville; eight uncles and three aunts. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. C. W. Williams, pastor First Baptist church of Many, officiated assisted by Rev. Coburn and Rev. Eugene Phares. Interment was in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Massingill funeral home directing. Surviving are six sons, Joe Leach, Florien, C. M. Leach, Many, Oscar Leach, Overton, Texas, J. Lud Leach, Hoyt Leach and Ocie Leach, all of Hornbeck; two daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Elders and Mrs. Carrie Montrose, both of Hornbeck. Mrs. Leach passed away at Hornbeck early Monday . Mrs. Leach was the widow of the late M. L. Leach, who preceded her in 1903. She was a native of Sabine parish, having resided here her entire life. Williams was reported killed in action Feb. 2 in the Philippine, according to notice from the war department to his mother, Mrs. J. R. Bowman, Beaumont, Texas. Pfc. Williams has a brother serving in the Philippines. He has five brothers and several sisters in the States. Mrs. Mark Anthony and Mrs. E. J. Speight of Sabine parish are sisters. Mrs. Alice Jones and Mrs. Rosa Jones of Beaumont, Texas are also sisters. They are very much grieved at the loss of their brother who was not yet 20 years old. **************************************************************************************** Obituaries: Thomas Mitchell, Sabine Parish M-324 Source: Sabine Index, Many, La., Mar 30, 1945 Submitted by: Tammy Larche tammy@cp-tel.net Thomas Mitchell 30 Mar 1945 - (Pictured above are Sgt. Thomas Mitchell, wife Sybil and daughter Ruby Jean.) Mrs. Thomas Smith Mitchell of Florien was notified by the war department of the death of her husband. Sgt. Mitchell entered the service Feb. 2, 1943, trained at Camp Swift, Texas, went overseas October 1943, was in England nine months, Frances seven months, Germany two months. He was also in Belgium and Luxembourg. He was awarded the Co bat Infantry badge Jan. 17, also had Good Conduct medal, Rifle medan and Driver medal. The telegram stated that Sgt. Mitchell died March 4 from wounds received in battle somewhere in Germany. Mrs. Mitchell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith of Florien with whom she is making her home.
