The Sabine Index - Thomas W. Allen

  18 Mar 1949 - Thomas W. Allen, 78, was claimed by sudden
death at his home at Belmont Sunday evening. Funeral rites were
conducted at Spring Ridge 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by Rev. J. I.
Funderburk. Interment followed under direction Massingill funeral
home.

  Surviving relatives include: brothers, Pete and Ambers Allen,
Waco, Texas; sister, Mrs. Alice Hall, Belmont, Miss.; several
neices and nephews.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Mary Derbin

  4 Mar 1949 - Last rites for Mrs. Mary Derbin, 80, who died at
her home following a short illness, were conducted at Beulah
Baptist church at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Nelson Mitchell of
Many. Interment followed under direction Massingill funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: husband, sons, Gus E, Tom and Jack
Shaw, all of Many; daughter, Mrs. Emma Moore of Texas, and 12
grandchildren.

The Sabine Index - John S. Ramsey

  11 Mar 1949 - Funeral rites for John S. Ramsey, age 95, who
passed away at the home of his son, were conducted 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Bayou Scie church by Rev. T. J. Holliday, Massingill
funeral home directed. Interment was in Doddridge, Ark.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.

  Surviving relatives include: sons, E. L. Ramsey, San Benito,
Texas, L. T. Ramsey, DeQuincey, Wilter Ramsey, Bradley, Ark.,
Charlie Ramsey, Zwolle; daughters, Mrs. Anna Maines, Zwolle, Mrs.
Lula Dew, Many, 28 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren and a
great-great-grandchild.

The Sabine Index - Oliver Fay Robinette

  18 Mar 1949 - Oliver Fay Robinette, 37, who passed away at a
hospital in Chicago, Ill. after a long illness, was buried at
Noble cemetery Sunday. Last rites were held at the chapel of
Massingill funeral home at 2 p.m. by Rev. J. H. Ricks of Mt.
Carmel community, assisted by Rev. Cleburne W. Quaid, pastor Many
Methodist church.

  Surviving relatives include; mother, Mrs. O. A. Robinette,
Shreveport, sisters, Misses Doris and Gladys Robinette and Mrs.
C. A. Dowden, all of Shreveport; brothers, J. D., O. F. and E. O.
Robinette, all of Port Arthur, Texas.

  Deceased spent most of his boyhood life at Peason
during that town's life, where he attended Peason high school,
and his father, the late O. O. Robinette, was manager of the
Peavy-Wilson Lubmer store.

  11 Mar 1949 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Joehann Van Hess, 76,
were conducted at St. John Catholic church at 9 a.m. Friday by
Father J. A. Benoit, pastor. Interment was under direction
Massingill funeral home.

  Pallbearers were P. F. DeKeyzer, Howard Tullah, Charles
Tullah, Richard Van Hess, Perome Van Hess and Carl O. Lester.

  Surviving relatives include: husband, John Van Hess,
Many; sons, J. C., Port Arthur, Texas, T. W. Shreveport and
Anthony of Many, daughter, Mrs. W. N. Neely, Serepta.

  Mrs. Van Hess, a native of Holland, has been a resident
of Many for 40 years, coming here from West Virginia.

  4 Mar 1949 - J. E. Wall, 45, passed away in a Shreveport
hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted
from Advent church at Provencal at 4 p.m. Monday by Rev. Joe
Flanagan of Shreveport and Rev. Graham of Shamrock. Interment was
under direction of Massingill funeral home.

  Pallbearers were, Robert Nelson, Robert Rawls, Cleo Sibley,
Elmer Nelson, Joe Welch and Ben Welch.

  Surviving relatives include: widow, Mrs. J. E. Wall,
Robeline; sons, Owen of U. S. army, Merlin, Thelton, Harold,
Wayne and Kenneth of Robeline; daughter, Faye of Logansport;
sister, Mrs. J. E. Smith, Shreveport.

sanitarium, Converse, Wednesday of last week after a brief
illness. Funeral rites were held at Bayou Scie church at 3 p.m.
Friday by Rev. L. L. Oliver of Shreveport, assisted by Rev. T. J.
Holliday of Bayou Scie. Interment was under direction Massingill
funeral home.

  Pallbearers were: J. O. Kimbrell, Tom Sullivan, Joe Woods,
Claude Davis, Monroe Hall and Pete McCormic.

  Surviving relatives include husband, J. L. Watkins,
Zwolle; sister, Mrs. Nelson Rasmussen, Niagra, Wis.; father,
Albert Luce, Niagra Falls, N. Y., a number of nieces and nephews.
