Felts 18 Mar 1955 - Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie B. Felts, 88, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 4, in the Free Methodist Church in Hemphill, Texas, with Rev. N. L. Dubberly and Rev. Clarence Howell, both of Mississippi. Interment was in the Hemphill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home. Mrs. Felts was a native of Mississippi and had lived in Sabine County since 1901. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church. She became a Christian in early life and lived a Christian throughout her life. Mrs. Felts was the widow of the late T. J. Felts who preceded her in death, April 17, 1947. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary Christmas Eve, 1947. Mrs. Felts passed way Thursday, March 3, at 11 o'clock a.m. at her home in Sabinetown. She became suddenly ill of a heart attack and lived one week. She is survived by five sons, Lee and Walter of Sabinetown, Clarence of Brookeland, Texas, Hugh and Urcel of League City, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Cleo O'Neal and Mrs. Ora Harper of Sabinetown, Mrs. Opal Tinsley of Redding, Calif., and Mrs. Ocie Gomer of Fort Worth, 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Ella Patterson, of Mississippi. All the children were present except Opal who was not able to come.
