A native of Pleasant Hill, she had resided in Shreveport 40 years. She was a registered nurse. Survivors include her husband, Maurice Nickels; her mother, Mrs. Maudie Ross of Pleasant Hill; a son, Larry Nickels of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Robichaux of Houston, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Haire of Texas City, Tex., Mrs. Cecile Walker of Bossier City, and Mrs. Glen Cottrell of Shreveport; a brother, A, D, Ross Jr., of Shreveport and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, at Summer Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Crosby, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Summer Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Hamby, Ray Ware, Theo McLemore, Ray Brasher, Melton Marr, and Thurmond Moore. Arrangements were under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel.
