"Nick" Nichols, a well respected Many businessman, was claimed by death at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Shreveport. His death followed a lengthy illness. Born in Fisher on August 7, 1920, Shelton Woodrow Nichols was the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Nichols. He was educated in Fisher and Many schools. Mr. Nichols, who received a degree in education, graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He taught history, and coached basketball in Florien for several years, before opening his clothing store, K and W, on San Antonio Ave. in 1963. He remained active in the business until his untimely death. Over the years, Mr. Nichols was active with the Little League He was a member of the VFW Post ?, the Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce, and the Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leatrice Blackwell Nichols in 1974. Survivors include one son, Mike Nichols of Many; one daughter, Jan Booker of Shreveport; two granddaughters, Alisha Booker, and Nicole Booker, both of Shreveport; one brother, Elston Nichols of Westland, Michigan; and one sister, Buna Byles of Many. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m., in the Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Wayne Reeves, and the Rev. David Chapman, church pastor. Burial will be in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Leslie Lites, Buddy Dees, Benny McNeely, Joe Luster, Jack Jordan, Gerald Malley, Dr. N. U. Booker, and Hoyt Hughes.
