Mr. Newson died Friday morning, March 23, 1984, in Palo Alto, after a short illness. He was born in Shreveport, La., attended grade school in Pleasant Hill, La., and graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport in 1956. He graduated from the U. S. Air Force Academy in 1960, and served as a pilot in the U. S. Air Force. He received a Masters of Business Degree from Stanford University in 1970. He was a member of the California Board of Realtors, the Wings Club, and the Stanford Alumni. He was preceded in death by his mother, Miriam Lafitte Edwards of Pleasant Hill, La., and his father, Robert J. Newson, Sr., of Shreveport. He is survived by two sons, Eric, and Christian; two sisters, Lenore Muncie of Golden Beach, Fla. Bonnie E. Hight of Haughton, La.; three brothers, James H. Edwards, Bruce L. Edwards of Shreveport, Glenn K. Edwards, currently stationed with the U. S. Navy at Guatamana Bay in Cuba; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
