Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Huttig, with the Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Burial followed at Harper Springs Cemetery near Huttig, under the direction of the Rumph-Owers Funeral Home. Mrs. Nixon is survived by three sons, Joseph E. Nixon of El Dorado, Ark., William J. Nixon of Florien, and James O. Nixon of Montecello, Ark.; a daughter, Mrs. Oleta E. Benson of Huttig, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Wilkie Hogan of Norphlet, Ark., and Burdeen Peterson of Ispeming, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olney E. Nixon; and a son, Jackson L. Nixon. Mrs. Nixon was born Sept. 14, 1904, in Houston, Missouri, to A. V. and Wilkie Anthony Frost. She had lived in Union County since 1910, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huttig. She was a homemaker, and retired school teacher in the Huttig School System.
