Nett - December 6, 1973 Abbie G. Nett, 67, of Many died in Shreveport on Saturday Dec. 1, at 5:55 a.m. following a short illness. Nett is survived by four brothers, Otis Nett of Many, Teddy Nett of Shreveport, George Nett of Sour Lakes, Tex., and Levi Nett of Nederland, Tex.; and a sister, Mrs. Leona DeBose of Many. A veteran of World War II, Nett, was a life-long resident of Sabine Parish. A rosary was spoken on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Warren Meadows Funeral Chapel. Military rifles were performed at the gravesite. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, at the St. John Catholic Church with the Msgr. T. J. Lennon officiating. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery Pallbearers for Nett were Charles Adams, Greg Adams, Jim Bowling, Paul Adams, Charles Bowling and Bob Adams. Mr. Nett was the son of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Jeff Nett of Many and attended St. John Academy. He entered the Army in 1942 and trained at Ft. Sill, Okla. He served in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart, EAME Ribbon with five Battle Stars and Victory Ribbon. He was wounded in France in 1944 and was discharged in 1945.
