All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Lenora McDonald Neel Services for Mrs. Lenora McDonald Neel, 92, of Ruston, La., were held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 9, at Kilpatricks Chapel in Ruston. The Rev. William L. Worrell officiated. Burial was at Forest Park Cemetery, Shreveport, at 2 p.m., Monday, March 9, under the direction of Kilpatricks Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Neel was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Oak Grove. Mrs. Neel died March 7, 1987, at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, after a brief illness. Mrs. Neel was born in Harrisville, Mississippi, and was one of 12 children born to James Alexander McDonald and Alice Barlow. In 1912, the family moved to Sabine Parish, where she resided until 1972, when she moved to Ruston. Mrs. Neel was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Fulton Neel. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Reba K. Neel of Ruston; and one sister, Mrs. Allie Murtis Gibson of Odessa, Tex., and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were her nephews, Homer McDonald, Cecil "Bud" Kelly, James Bonds, and Marion Leshe. Honorary pallbearers were Quentin Spillyards, E. W. Jones, O. F. Brown, Charlie Ott, Grover Copeland, Ray Patrick, and Dewey Sherwood of Oak Grove Community, Converse. Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Ruston, the Arthritis Foundation, or the donors' choice.
