Sallie Ruth Nelson

  Services for Mrs. Sallie Ruth Nelson, 90, of Cullen, were held
at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, at the Bethel Baptist church in
Springhill, where she was a charter member. The Rev. Jimmy Hart
officiated, assisted by Rev. Johnny Teggue. Burial was in Bethel
Cemetery near Junction City, La., under the direction of Bailey
Mortuary in Springhill.

  Mrs. Nelson, a native of Lilly, La., a resident of Cullen 38
years, died Sunday, May 22, 1873, at Community Hospital in
Springhill.

  She is survived by one daughter, Jane Smith of Converse; six
sons, A. W. Nelson, Sr., and J. P. Nelson of Cullen, Rex Nelson
of Springhill, Dennis Nelson of Minden, Bruce Nelson of
Mansfield, Max Nelson, Sr., of Delhi; two sisters, Donie Hollis
Futch of Monroe, and Jettie Hollis Ball of Ruston; one brother,
E. J. Hollis of Holly Ridge, La.; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great
grandchildren.

  Pallbearers were Kenneth Dale Smith, Bobby Nelson, A. W. Nelson
Jr., Max Nelson Jr., Phillip Nelson, Dennis D. Nelson, Loyd
Nelson, Don Smith, and Tracy Smith.
