Nelson, 63, of Minden, were held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the First Baptist Church of Minden. Dr. Ronald Prince, the Rev. Ronnie Laughlin, and the Rev. Wayne Vincent officiated. Burial was at Western Baptist Cemetery in Emerson, Ark., under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Mr. Nelson died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1986. He was born in Lillie, La., and had been a resident of Minden for 20 years. Mr. Nelson was vice-president of Peoples Bank and Trust Co. of Minden, and was an active member, and Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Minden. He was a member of the American Legion, the Minden Civitan Club, and past president of the Minden Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Nelson was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bobbye Nelson; one son, Loyd Nelson; and two daughters, Erin Nelson, and Faith Nelson of Minden; one sister, Mrs. Alton Smith of Converse; five brothers, Max Nelson of Delhi, Rex Nelson of Springhill, Bruce Nelson of Sarepta, A. W. Nelson, J. P. "Chubby" Nelson of Cullen. Pallbearers were Ty Pendergrass, R. O. Machen Jr., John McDonald, Sidney B. Simms, David Dumas, and Larry Martin. Family requests that memorials be made to the Music Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Minden.
