All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index Ambrous Wales Nelson, Sr. - April 14, 1988 Services for Mr. Ambrous Wales Nelson, Sr. 75, of Cullen, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. J. W. Richie officiated, assisted by Rev. Leo Beck. Burial was at Welcome Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Bailey Mortuary of Springhill. Mr. Nelson, a native of Lillie, La. died Sunday, April 10, 1988 in Springhill after a short illness. He was a deacon and a charter member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and had a resident of Cullen for 50 years. Mr. Nelson was a retired employee of International Paper Co. with 38 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Sygual Powell Nelson of Cullen, two daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Ann Mason and Wilton A. of Springhill, Loretta Dickerson and Marlin W. of Tomball, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, A. W. Nelson Jr. and Marilyn of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one sister, Janie Smith of Converse, four brothers, Jesse P. "Chubbie" Nelson and Bruce Nelson of Cullen, Rex Nelson of Springhill and Max Nelson of Delhi, Louisiana and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers were nephews: Bobby Nelson, Phillip Nelson, John Bryan, Dr. Randy Everett, Elston Green, Kenneth Ray Powell, Kenneth Smith, Steve Perry, Michael Collins and Leon Gray.
