Benny Crittenden, and Rev. Oscar Ford officiating. Burial was in Toro Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mrs. Newman died Sunday, Jan. 20, 1985, at Florien, at 11:05 p.m. She was 80 years old. Survivors include three sons, William F. Newman of Bossier City, Archie L. Newman, and Raymond N. Newman, both of Florien; three daughters, Mrs. Reba L. Martinez of Los Oso, Calif., Mrs. Ella Chism, and Mrs. Sue Livingston, both of Many; three brothers, Dewitt Powell of Sulphur, Marvin Powell of Merryville, and Osmar Powell of Florien; two sisters, Mrs. Maudie Canterberry of Florien, and Mrs. Zelma Lay of Shreveport; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Johnny Livingston, Billy Wayne Chism, William Daniel Donaldson, Stan Milligan, Michael Semons, and Billy Horton. Honorary pallbearers were Hugh Chism, and Steve Powell.
