Barrett, 73, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. C. Woodall, Mansfield, Friday, Nov. 5, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Barrett had lived near Mitchell for many years and leaves many friends in that community to mourn her passing. She was a member of the Baptist church at Oak Grove. Besides her husband, J. A. Barrett, Mrs. Barrett is survived by seven children, three sons, Elmer of Oak Grove, Brook of Gary, Texas, and Johnnie Barrett of Mitchell; four daughters, Mrs. Clara Anam of Mansfield, Mrs. Ethel Harrell of Rayville, Mrs. Mollie Sue Woodall of Mansfield and Mrs. Ida Horn of Hobbs, N. M.; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bush, 62, died early Sunday morning at the Prothro clinic, Pleasant Hill. Mr. Bush had made his home near Pelican for several years and was a well-known farmer of that community. He was born in Mississippi, his parents moving later to Sabine parish, near Florien, where he was reared. Mr. Bush married Miss Annie Pope. Besides his wife he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lenora Leach of Florien and Mrs. J. A. Berand of Plaquemines. Funeral services were held Monday at Ebenezer church near Florien, Rev. W. G. Bailey officiating, funeral directed by Dennis-Green funeral home. ***************************************************************** Obituaries: D. J. J. Derrick, age 50 years, were held Tuesday evening at four o'clock at Union Springs church near Converse. Rev. R. T. Pynes, pastor of the Many Methodist church, officiated. Burial was in Converse cemetery with Masonic rites at the grave, Dennis-Green funeral home in charge of funeral. Active pallbearers were: L. E. Harper, J. L. McDaniel, W. E. Curtis, Robert B. Jackson, D. H. Skinner and W. H. Brumley. Surviving are six sons, D. J. Derrick, Jr., U.S. army in New Jersey, George Derrick, marine corps, overseas; Huey, Harold, Billy and Leonard of Many; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Stagg of Port Arthur, Texas, and Miss Alma of Many; two brothers, L. H. and C. A. Derrick of Converse; five sisters, Mrs. E. M. Scott, Slanton, Texas, Mrs. F. G. Lorenz, Mrs. L. V. McDonald of Port Arthur, Texas, Mrs. J. W. Miller of Norphlet, Ark., and Mrs. J. P. Simmons of Mansfield. Sheriff Derrick was killed instantly in an auto wreck near Montgomery about nine o'clock Saturday night in a collision involving his car and two trucks on highway 71. He was enroute to Baton Rouge on business. Derrick was elected Sheriff of Sabine parish in 1936, was re-elected in 1940 and had started his campaign for re-election this year. He was born and reared near Converse where he made his home until elected Sheriff when he moved to Many, the parish seat. He was a member of the police jury from ward six a number of years. Moore, 8j2, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 3, at Prothro clinic, Pleasant Hill, following an illness of several weeks duration. Mr. Moore was a retired oil field worker. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Moore of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Dan Moore of Mississippi. Funeral services were held at Spring Ridge church 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Rev. E. H. Pearson, age 76 years, who died at his home in Zwolle Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., after an illness of several months, were held at 9:30 Wednesday with the pastor, Rev. D. L. Dykes, officiating. Mr. Pearson and his wife were among the first families to settle in Zwolle after the town site was established. Since that time the name Pearson has been prominent throughout the parish. He is survived by his wife, one sister-in-law, three nephews and a niece. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Self of Many; four children, two sons, Arthur Self of Many and Floyd Self of U. S. navy; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Mae Pike of El Dorado, Ill., and Mrs. Gertrude Reeves of Shreveport; four grandchildren, one brother, Matt Self, Vowell's Mill; four sisters, Miss Mitt Self and Mrs. Liz Marrie of Vowell's Mill, Mrs. Lizena Palmer and Mrs. James Stringer of Hornbeck. Funeral services were held at Addison cemetery, near Vowell's Mill at 3 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Newcomb of Many officiating, Dennis-Green funeral home directing.
