Mrs. Ida Varnado Funeral at Fort Jesup Church Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Varnado, age 72 years, who died 5 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 26, at her home near Robeline, were held 2:30 p.m.
Sunday at Fort Jesup Baptist church with Rev. J. C. Clement, pastor
First Baptist church, Many, and Rev. Adkins, pastor Fort Jesup
Baptist church, officiating.
Mrs. Varnado was born near Fort Jesup, lived all her life there.  She
is survived by: five daughters, Mrs. Reuben Goodman, Many, Mrs. Henry
Mims, Robeline, Mrs. Raymond Salter, Noble, Ill., Mrs. Ray Winn and
Mrs. Melvin Rhodes, both of Shreveport; three sons, John and Morris,
both of Many, Otha, Flanklin; 13 grandchildren and two great
grandchildren; one sister, Miss Jessie Stoker, Fort Jesup; three
brothers, Allen and Riley Stoker, both of Fort Jesup, and Robert
Stoker, Lake Charles.
The pallbearers were grandsons, Gene Parker, Many, Gordon Parker,
Shreveport, O. E. Varnado Jr., Robeline, Cecil Mims, Many, Donald
Wilford, Shreveport; son-in-law, M. C. Rhodes, Shreveport; a friend,
Tom Smith, Robeline.

Mrs. O. D. Miller

  16 Nov 1945 - Funeral rites for Mrs. O. D. Miller, age 30 years,
were held at 10 a.m. Monday from Central Baptist church,
Robeline. Rev. Ray Brown officiated, Massingill funeral home
directing.

  Surviving are husband, O. D. Miller, sons, Lannon Alton and
Richard Wade, Robeline; sister, Mrs. Hesta Lee Faust, Many,
brother, Bernice Manasco, U.S. Army, Fort Sam, Houston, Texas;
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Manasco, Robeline; maternal
grandparent, Mrs. T. B. Knippers.

Joseph Perkins Rhodes

  16 Nov 1945 - Funeral rites for Joseph Perkins Rhodes, age 82
years, were held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, from Beulah Baptist
church. Rev. J. P. Fortenberry officiated. Massingill funeral
home charge.

  Pallbearers were: F. D. Rhodes, Jr., Ralph Alford, Tommy Cryer,
E. C. Ross, James and Percy Stroud.

  Surviving are: wife, daughter, Mrs. Palmire Melder; sons, George
William, Oakland, Calif., Fletcher Dial, Many; James Lucius,
Marthaville; Sidney Peace, U.S. Army; 19 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren.

Narrie A. Miller

  23 Nov 1945 - Funeral rites for Narrie A. Miller, age 67 years,
were held 10 o'clock last Thursday from First Baptist Church,
Rev. J. C. Clement officiated, assisted by Rev. Henry T. Young
and Rev. J. D. Scott. Interment was in Many cemetery, Massingill
funeral home in charge.

  Pallbearers were: Louis Miller, Norman Curtis, Evelyn Patrick,
Herbert Gandy, Clarence Brumley, W. K. Logan. Honorary
pallbearers were: John E. Jackson, C. D. Hancock, Dr. S. F.
Fraser, Dr. G. F. Weber, A. L. Head, J. P. Stewart, A. L. Dailey,
Vernice Wright, Volley Leach, James Salter, James Leach, Willie
Miller, Ross Salter, Clarence Key, Kenneth Pensonot.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Pearl McMillan Miller, son, Osborn
Miller; two daughters, Mrs. J. A. Key, Mrs. Ray Dunigan, all of
Many; grandchildren, George Ray Dunigan, Beaumont, Texas, Bob and
Betty Kay Miller and Mary Beth Key, all of Many; sister Mrs. C.
B. Miller, and brother B. M. Miller of Dess

  Mr. Miller was a native of Sabine, born 1878 at Columbas, passed
away Nov. 4 after an illness of many months having spent the past
eight weeks in the hospital. He resided most of his life at
Florien.

  23 Nov 1945 - Last rites for Wiley G. Miller, age 77 years were
held 2:30 p.m. Monday from Ebenezer Baptist Church, Rev. Ott
Coburn officiating, Massingill funeral home in charge.

  Surviving are: son, J. F. Miller, Florien; three daughters, Mrs.
G. C. Addison and Mrs. L. F. Corley, Florien, and Mrs. E. A.
