The Sabine Index - Joseph Abraham

  1 Nov 1946 - Funeral rites for Joseph Abraham, age 72 years,
were held 9 a.m. Wednesday from St. John's Catholic church. Rev.
Father J. A. Benoit officiating. Interment was in St. John's
cemetery, under direction Massingill funeral home.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Loe of Many; two daughters, Mrs.
Elmer Isgitt and Miss Isabell Abraham of Alexandria.

  Mr. Abraham died at the family home on church street 9
a.m. Tuesday after a long illness.

  1 Nov 1946 - Last rites for J. P. Clower, Sr., age 74 years,
were held 2 p.m. Monday from Central Baptist church. Rev. Ray
Brown officiated, Massingill funeral home directing.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Mertice Clower, Robeline; sons, J.
P., Jr., Robeline, J. E., Wewoka, Okla.; daughters, Mrs. E. J.
Martin, Mrs. J. A. Crockett, Mrs. V. N. Salter, Miss Bessie Bee
Clower, all of Robeline, and Mrs. G. W. Byrd, Vowell's Mill;
sister, Mrs. W. H. Peters, Shreveport, and five grandchildren.

  1 Nov 1946 - Last rites for J. Gilbert Lites, age 43, were
held 3 p.m. Monday from Mt. Zion Baptist church. Rev. A. Frank
Roberts officiated, assisted by Rev. J. D. Scott. Interment was
in Mt. Zion cemetery, Massingill funeral home in charge.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Myrtle Lites and two sons, James and
Dale of Many; mother, Mrs. T. J. Lites, Many; brothers, Herbert
of Fouke, Ark., Leslie, Many, W. J. Albuquerque, N. M., E. O.,
Shreveport, Tom and Ray, Many; sisters, Mrs. W. H. McWherter, New
Orleans, Mrs. W. G. Dees and Mrs. J. A. Brumley, Many.

The Sabine Index - W. Thornton Parrott

  1 Nov 1946 - Last rites for W. Thornton Parrott, age 89, were
held 10 a.m. Friday at the Pilgrim's Rest cemetery. Rev. Lastie
N. Hoffpauir officiated. Interment was in the Pilgrim's Rest
cemetery, under the direction of Massingill funeral home.

  Pallbearers were: E. M. Patrick, Rollie Patrick, Cecil Parrott,
Van Vines, Henry Vines, and T. M. Phillips.

  Surviving are: sons, Willie Parrot of Many; daughter,
Mrs. B. L. Davis, Miami, Fla.; sisters, Mrs. R. L. Patrick, and
Mrs. W. T. Alford, both of Many ; and six grandchildren.

  Mr. Parrot was one of Sabine's oldest citizens having
resided here all his life.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Ida Melton Sims

  1 Nov 1946 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Melton Sims, age
87 years, who died at the home of her sons in Zwolle 1:35 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 26, were held 2:30 p.m. Sunday from Siloam
Methodist church, near Jonesboro, with the pastor officiating.

  Mrs. Sams was born in the state of Alabama and spent the
greater part of her life in Jackson parish. She was a member of
the Jonesboro Methodist church.

  Surviving are: five sons, L. P. Sims, Minden, J. Y. Sims,.
Leesville, S. L. Sims, West Monroe, T. W. Sims, Olla, J. S. Sims,
Zwolle; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as a
host of relatives who mourn her death.

  Interment was in Siloam cemetery under direction of
Southern funeral home, Jonesboro.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Alex Small

  1 Nov 1946 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Alex Small, age 70 years,
were held 2:00 p.m. last Friday from Mt. Olive Baptist church.
Rev. Willis Greer officiated, assisted by Rev. Ross, Massingill
funeral home in charge.

  Surviving are: husband, Alex Small; six sons, Buck, Jack,
Carson, Hoyt and Mack Small all of Many and Andrew Small of the
U. S. army; six daughters, Mrs. T. J. McCollister, Logansport,
Mrs. A. L. Holcomb, Mrs. Jack Maxey, Mrs. B. C. McCollister, all
of Many, Mrs. Howard Wright, Negreet, and Mrs. Ralph Brooks, Los
Angeles, Calif.

  Mrs. Small died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack
Maxey in Many.
