The Sabine Index - John B. Blackwell

  30 Nov 1951 - Funeral rites for John B. Blackwell, 76, who
passed away at Sabine clinic, Zwolle, after an extended illness
Saturday, were conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Zwolle Methodist
church by Rev. A. D. Ashby of Blanchard and Rev. A. D. St. Amant
of Zwolle. Interment was in McComic cemetery under direction of
Warren Funeral Home.

  Pallbearers were Horace Maxey, Robert Tarpley, Howard
Blackwell, Quinton Brandon, Coleman Hippler and Loyd Alford.

  Surviving relatives include: daughters, Mrs. Gasway
German, Many, Mrs W. F. Jeter, Sr., Zwolle, Mrs. W. B. Palmer,
Texarkana; brother, W. B. Blackwell, Florien; sisters, Mrs Mary
Cook, Florien, Mrs Fred Alford, Many and Mrs Webb Brandon,
Zwolle; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Mollie Byrd

  30 Nov 1951 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Mollie Byrd, 80, who
expired Sunday at Fraser sanitarium after several weeks' illness,
were conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Carmel church by Rev. Coda
Salter and Rev. W. G. Bailey. Interment followed under direction
Warren funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: two grandchildren, Travis
Hildebrand, Shreveport, and Ottis Hildebrand, Alvin, Texas; a
large number of nieces and nephews.

The Sabine Index - Herman Wilman Craig

  30 Nov 1951 - Funeral rites for Herman Wilman Craig, 35, who
was crushed to death between a moving truck and a still one in
Wallace community near Pleasant Hill Tuesday of last week, were
conducted 2 p.m. last Wednesday at Zwolle Baptist church by Rev.
Earl Mercer, missionary pastor of the church. Interment followed
in Bethsadia cemetery under direction Warren funeral home.

  Pallbearers were: J. O. Kimbrell, Joe Elliott, J. B. Maddox,
Houston Winslow, Walker Ledford and R. P. Bufkin.

  Surviving relatives include: parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Cleveland Craig, Zwolle; brothers, Waple, Huey, Jr., and Bobby
Craig, all of Zwolle and Homer Craig, Oil City; sisters, Mrs.

The Sabine Index - Miss Sallie Speight

  16 Nov 1951 - Funeral services for Miss Sallie Speight, 85,
who passed away at the home of her nephew, Preston Ferguson,
Saturday were conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Little Flock church by
Rev. J. R. Miller, assisted by Rev. Coda Salter. Interment
followed under direction Warren funeral home.

  Pallbearers were Preston Ferguson, John Killian, Robert
Speight, Willie Speight, Wilie Dewil, and Joe Speight.

  Surviving relatives include: brother, M. K. Speight,
Negreet, sister, Mrs. Jennie Dewil, Hornbeck and a large number
of nieces and nephews.

The Sabine Index - John Mitch Tatum

  30 Nov 1951 - John Mitch Tatum, 71, of Noble was killed abut
6:45 a.m. Tuesday just west of the west overpass at Baton Rouge
when he was thrown from this pickup truck after it collided with
a large oil truck.

  State police said Mr. Tatum was alone at the time. He was
headed towards Baton Rouge and the oil truck, driven by Wallace
Hornsby of Washington was going east. The accident occurred about
three miles west of the Mississippi river bridge on Highway 190
during a rain. Mr. Tatum is reported to have lost control of his
vehicle and veered across the road into the path of the oncoming
truck, owned by Herrin Transfer & Warehouse company of Baton
Rouge. Dr. P. B. Landry, West Baton Rouge coroner conducted an
inquest in Port Allen.

  Funeral services were at deceased's home at Noble with
graveside services at Noble cemetery by Rev. Jerry Schmucker,
pastor Converse Baptist church 3 p.m. Wednesday.

  Surviving relatives include: the widow of Noble; sons, J.
M. Tatum, Jr., Converse, Jack Tatum, Lake Charles, Paul Tatum in
the U. S. army in Japan; daughters, Mrs. C. L. Edwards, Noble,
Mrs. Elaine Youngblood and Mrs. Austin Dees, both of Lake
Charles; brother, H. G. Tatum, Converse; sisters, Mrs. Laura
Copeland, Mansfield, Mrs. Truman Hill, Camden, Ark., and 12
grandchildren.

fatally injured in a truck accident at Camp Polk Friday, were
conducted 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Fort Jesup Baptist church by Revs.
Clarence Patton, Earl Myers and H. H. Tibbitts. Interment
followed under direction Warren funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: the widow, Mrs. Willivae
