Oxley, 67, of Shreveport, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at Morningside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, near Many, under the direction of Wellman's Funeral Home. Mr. Oxley was dead on arrial at 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Willis-Knighton Hospital, after a sudden illness. A native of Many, he had lived in Shreveport since 1952, and was a chef for oil rig workers. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Varena Oxley; two sons, Francis Oxley of Shreveport, and Gaines Oxley of Tyler, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. Glenda Kay Harmon of Dallas, Tex.; two brothers, Rebert Oxley of Many, and Lema Oxley of New Jersey; and three granddaughters. Pallbearers will be R. C. Prince, A. G. Irvin, J. C. Gates, Windom Johnson, Walter Smith, and L. E. West.
