Oxley - December 13, 1973 Fisher Monroe Oxley, 64, of Bellwood was found dead Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4, at his residence. Natchitoches Parish Coroner Dr. Charles E. Cook ruled that Oxley died Nov. 30 of natural causes. He was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Elfie Darden of Hornbeck and Mrs. Mary Springer of DeRidder; two brothers, Frank Oxley of Center, Tex. and Willie Oxley of Mansfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Pleasant View Baptist Church in Hornbeck at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, with Rev. Leroy James and Rev. Dan Robertson officiating. Burial was in Oxley cemetery near Fisher under direction of St. Denis Funeral Home Natchitoches. Remains laid in state beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the Pleasant View Baptist Church until time of services.
