She was born to Lafayette Washington and Martha Ann Hardin Byrd on March 6, 1989. She entered into rest on Friday, August 20, 1993, at Huckaby Hospital in Coushatta. She was a native of Sabine Parish, and resided in Shreveport for over 50 years. She was formerly a member of Southside Baptist Church in Shreveport, and was very active in Sunday school, nursery, daycare, and many other church functions. She retired from Morrison's Cafeteria, and also the YMCA Cafeteria. She was currently a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mansfield. Burial services will be officiated by Brother Kenneth Leach of Beulah Baptist Church of Many. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. Mrs. Oxley was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters; one son, Edward Oxley Jr.; one daughter, Emma Marie Oxley Wren; and son-in-law, Jack Wren; one grandson, Edwin James Oxley; two great grandsons, Shawn Oxley, and Lawrence DeWayne Moore. She is survived by two sons, Raymond H. Oxley and wife Stephanie of Letha, Idaho, and Truman L. Oxley and wife Bet of Many; one daughter, Jennie Oxley Feazel; and special son-in-law, H. W. Feazel of Coushatta; there were five generations of family. There are seventeen grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Eula Mae Alford, and Pearl Patrick, both of Many; and numerous nieces and nephews. The nephews will serve as the pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Chance, Gerald Patrick, and her doctor, Dr. Wayne Coleman.
