The Rev. J. M. Cason officiated. Burial was at Centuries Memorial Park. Mr. Oliver died Sunday, April 5, 1987, at University Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., after a lengthy illness. He was born in Converse, La., but was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. Mr. Oliver was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Oliver; and one son, Matthew Oliver of Shreveport; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Oliver of Brandon, Miss.; three sisters, Brenda Zunigh of Shreveport, Sharon Mauldin of Stonewall, and Lisa Gilbert of Florence, Miss.; one brother, Gary Wayne Oliver of Irving, Tex.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Rivers of Zwolle. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
