Samuel N. Owens

  Samuel Nelson Owens, 83, of San Augustine, Tex., died Wednesday
morning, Dec. 6, in a Texas hospital, after a sudden illness.

  The funeral was at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, in Calvary Baptist
Church, with the Revs. Robert Faulk, J. P. Owens, and Wayne
Cannon officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery, under
the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home.

  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jennie Hayes Owens of San
Augustine; one daughter, Opal Ramsey of San Augustine; three
sons, Ovid Owens of Denham Springs, La., Otha Owens of Ruston,
La., and Odis Owens of Shreveport; two brothers, Loyed Owens of
Many, La., and Leonard Owens of Shreveport; one sister, Rosa Lee
Jett of Fisher; seven grandchildren; and seven great
grandchildren.
