Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with interment following at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck. Ministers were her grandsons. Mrs. Owers was a native of Gladewater, Texas, and had lived in Hornbeck for the past 60 years. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church. Survivors include her husband, Grover Owers of Hornbeck; four sons, Nathan Owers of Beaumont, Texas, J. D. Owers, Grover C. Owers, Jr., and Roderick Owers, all of Hornbeck; three daughters, Elena Thornton of Hornbeck, Genella Sims of DeRidder, and Betty Brown of Beaumont, Texas; five sisters, L. V. Byrd of Hornbeck, Minnie Palman of Beaumont, Texas, Elsie Matthews of Silsbee, Texas, Edith Siou of Call, Texas, and Verlene Plaisance of Hornbeck; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
