Gene Vincent officiating. Mr. Ouers died Saturday morning, March 8, at West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital, after a lengthy illness. A Hornbeck native, he had lived in Sulphur since 1976. He was a retired tank farm operator for Superior Oil Co., and had owned Ouers Nursery and Fence Co. in Lake Arthur for 15 years. During the depression, he had worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Camp Beauregard District, and was involved in the project of planting oak trees along Highway 90, between Lake Charles and Lafayette. An active member of the Assembly of God Church, he was instrumental in starting the Lake Arthur Assembly of God Church, by providing his home as a place for services. Survivors include four sons, Harold E. Ouers of Lafayette, Howard E. Ouers of Breaux Bridge, Randall A. Ouers of Texarkana, Texas, and Ralph L. Ouers of Eldorado, Ark.; five daughters, Mrs. H. C.(Catherine) Welch of Jennings, Mrs. Larry (Charlotte) Dozier of Oberline, Mrs. Weldon (Rita) Terro, and Mrs. Gene (Nita) Vincent, both of Sulphur, and Mrs. Don (Madeline) McFarland of Chickasaw, Ore.; two brothers, Fred R. Ouers of Rayne, and H. W. Ouers of Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Chance, and Mrs. Velma Warrick, both of Hornbeck; 30 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Graveside services were at 3 p.m., Monday, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck.
