Orchid, 74, of Many, died in Many on Thursday, July 17, at 4:30 p.m., following an extended illness. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eunice Orchid of Many; four sons, Bill Orchid of Many, Carl Orchid of Beaumont, Texas, W. A. Orchid of Lakewood, California, and Jimmie Orchid of Spring, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Francis Blackshear of LaPorte, Texas, Mrs. Millie Fontenot of Cypress, California, Mrs. Norma Dodson of Covesville, Virginia, and Mrs. Linda Campbell of Many; two sisters, Mrs. George Teat of Hope, Arkansas, and Mrs. J. B. Stinnete of Port Arthur, Texas; 22 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Orchid was a member of Many's Masonic Lodge No. 411 A&FM, and the Sabine Chapter No. 171, Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Many. Funeral services were held at the Many United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Sirman, and the Rev. Brent Fleming officiating. Masonic rites were held in the Florien Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Sam Hayes, Joe Palmer, Don Brooks, Arthur DeLacerda, I. D. Bostain, and Doc Veuleman.
