Dupree was riding in a gravel truck with Carvin Wormack and Toad Hayes, driver, on their way home near Florien from their work on the construction of the Noble-Converse highway Tuesday night when a car with bright lights is said to have crowded them off the eight-foot fill across Buvens bottom on the Many-Shreveport highway. The offending car is alleged to have kept going without offering aid to the wrecked truck or occupants. Hays and Womack escaped injuries while Dupree was hurled several feet from the truck into a barb wire fence, suffering a broken shoulder and internal injuries. Dr. S. F. Fraser administered first aid, after which the young man was conveyed to Allen sanitarium, followed by death Wednesday afternoon. Dupree has been discharged from the U. A. Army six weeks. He is survived by his widow, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dupree; three brothers, Leslie, Clifton and Leman Dupree; one sister, Mrs. Flossie Mothershed, all of Mt. Carmel. Funeral services at Mt. Carmel Baptist church 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. W. G. Bailey conducting the last rites before interment in Mt. Carmel cemetery.
