All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Jim Peace 10 Jun 1955 - Jim Peace, age 37, passed away Tuesday morning , May 24 at 4:30 a.m. Jim was a veteran of World War II. He joined the air force at Barksdale where he received his basic training and was sent overseas. Jim's plane was shot down over Berlin in World War II, where he was taken prisoner of war for 17 months by the Germans. There he received his injuries while a POW. Jim never was well afterwards. He spent most of is time in hospitals. But during his sufferings he faced the world with a smile. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by the Barksdale Air Force Base with Warren Funeral home in charge. The services were conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. P. King, Rev. Billy Burkett and Rev. L. J. Skiles officiating. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Pearl Peace of Negreet; brother, Lee Peace of Alexandria, Va., sisters, Mrs. Loza Cook of Florien, Mrs. Lovie Woodle of Negreet, Mrs. Lona Williams of Beau
