All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** SSG (Retired) Larry Douglas "Snapper" Peacock Services for SSG (Retired) Larry Douglas "Snapper" Peacock, 57, of Pleasant Hill, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 17, at the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. Edwin Fenton, and the Rev. Stephen Pyle officiating. Burial with full military honors was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel SSG Peacock died Saturday, September 15, at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport. He was born in DeSoto Parish, and was retired from military service in the U.S. Army after 20 years and 15 days. He served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. SSG Peacock was a member of the Rodrigues Shaver Thornton VFW Post #4586 of Mansfield, the American Legion Post #300 of Pleasant Hill, a honorary charter member of the Louisiana Sheriff's Assoc., and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill. He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Peacock; his wife, Nell Peacock; a brother, Paul Ray Peacock. He is survived by his mother, Bessie Durr Peacock of Pelican; one son, Douglas Ray Peacock of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two daughters, Petra Renee Schick of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Debbie Peacock of Sioux Falls; one step daughter, Kathy Sistrunk; and one step son, Ken Dilliard, both of Mansfield; six sisters, Louise Birdwell of Marthaville, Barbara Frisk of LaJunta Colorado, Glenda Haire of Shreveport, Patricia Bridges of Mountain View, Arkansas, Elizabeth Peacock of Houston, Texas, Wanda Rambin of Pelican; three brothers, Bill Peacock of Pelican, Cliff Peacock, and Jerry Peacock, both of Houston; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers were Hugh Hardee, Ray Hardee, Bill Johnson, Roy Bush Bridges, Ralph Robbins, Robert Boone.
