Pickett, 73, of Many, died in the Natchitoches Parish Hospital at 9 p.m., on Sunday night, July 15, following a short illness. Survivors include her husband, Marshall M. Pickett of Many; one son, John R. Pickett of Many; one sister Mrs. Lennie Robertson of Shreveport; and two granddaughters, Nina Pickett, and Lisa Pickett, both of Many. A resident of the Beulah community for years, Mrs. Pickett was known for her good cooking, and expertise in the canning department of her kitchen. She was a member of the Spanish Trail Homemakers Club, and was a regular choir member at the Calvary Baptist Church in Many. Born on July 17, 1906, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Sibley. She attended the Old Alliance School, and graduated as class valedictorian in 1927. On December 26, 1934, she became the bride of Marshall M. Pickett. Funeral services for Mrs. Pickett were held on Tuesday, July 17, at 10 a.m., in the Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Olan Waters of Houston, Tex. Officiated at the services. Assisting were the Rev. David Chapman, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church; the Rev. Rod Smith, pastor of the Many First Baptist Church; and the Rev. Coda Salter, pastor of the Tullos Baptist Church in Tullos, La. Burial was in the Beulah Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
