Pickett Funeral services for Marshall Pickett of Many, were held at the Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 1, at 2 p.m. Burial followed in the Beulah Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were J. C. Morris, Hoyt Hughes, Gerald Knippers, Alfice Brumley, Bud Frey, and Kenneth Colston. Mr. Pickett died at the residence of his son, at 5 p.m., Monday, June 29, following a sudden illness. He was 84. Survivors include his son, John R. Pickett of Many; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Belle Carney of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Irene Allison of Corpus Christi, Tex.; and two granddaughters, Nina Monique Pickett, and Jolissa Beth Pickett, both of Many. Mr. Pickett was born Dec. 21, 1897, near Ida, in Caddo Parish, to Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Pickett. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Judge J. S. Picket Sr. of Many, and his wife, Mrs. Josie Pickett. During his lifetime, he worked for the railroad, Post Office, and was a ranger for the La. Forestry Commission for 15 years. He also roughnecked in the oil fields, and farmed. Officiating at the services were the Rev. David Chapman, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, and the Rev. Joe Ratcliff, pastor of Many First Baptist Church.
