All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Ruth Williams DeWitt Pickler Funeral services for Ruth Williams DeWitt Pickler, 92, of Zwolle, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 1996, at the First Baptist Church of Zwolle, where she was a member. The Rev. Jerry Penfield officiated. Burial was in Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mrs. Pickler passed away at Toledo Nursing Center on Jan. 9. Mrs. Pickler was born in Jonesboro on July 31, 1903, to T. V. and Sula Williams. She married Osbern Lee DeWitt on July 30, 1924, and after his death in 1963, she married Kilmer Pickler in 1972. She was preceded in death by both husbands; one son, Alton Lee DeWitt in 1935; her parents; and eleven brothers and sisters. She was a lady of many talents, a former school teacher, an excellent seamstress, and a superb cook. She operated cafes in Jonesboro, Pleasant Hill, and Zwolle, for many years, and took great enjoyment in visiting with the many people who patronized her cafes. "Nana", as she was fondly called by her family, leaves behind two sons, Doyle DeWitt and wife Etoil of Zwolle, and Edward Dewitt and wife Patsy of Shreveport; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Pallbearers were Willard DeWitt, Kenneth McCormick, Allen Rials, Don Rials, Michael Evans, and James Salter.
