Petty 17 Jul 1936 - Last rites for Dr. C. M. Petty, who was killed instantly when struck by an automobile 24 miles south of Shreveport late last Saturday night, were held Monday at Jerusalem church. Dr. Petty had stopped his car on the side of the road, near a sandwich stand, to make repairs apparently unaware, stepped out into the highway. Thrown to the pavement he suffered a fractured skull and other injuries. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Jerusalem church with interment in the Jerusalem cemetery, Rev. Jeff Holliday of Zwolle officiating, assisted by Rev. A. L. Gilmore. Dr. Petty was well known here, having been born and reared in Sabine parish. After finishing medical college, practiced his profession for a number of years at Fisher. The deceased is survived by the widow, two sons, Joe and C. M. Petty, Jr.; two daughters, Miss Catherine Petty of Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. J. S. Sartor, Engrest, La.; also five brothers, M. V. Petty of Many, Bob of Montrose, Crit and Homer and Lawrence of Ida, and two sisters.
