All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Lela Robertson Petty Funeral services for Lela Robertson Petty, 98, of Shreveport, were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 26, at Centuries Memorial Chapel. Services were conducted by Brother Step Martin, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, where Mrs. Petty was a member. She passed away at 2 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1986, after an extended illness. She had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 39 years, moving here from Montgomery, La. Mrs. Petty was a retired nurse from Highland Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 68 years, and was a past matron of two Eastern Star chapters. In 1981, Mrs. Petty was honored as "Mother of the Year", with a proclamation from the mayors of both Shreveport, and Bossier City. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Edgar Robertson, and Charles Arthur Petty; and one son, Ross Robertson. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Emma Breithaupt Madden of Shreveport; two granddaughters, Mrs. Frances Murphy, of Shreveport, and Mrs. Julianne Jackson of Dallas, Tex.; four great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Mr. O. E. Williams of Hickory, N. C.; three sisters, Mrs. Lelis DeWitt, and Mrs. Ruth Pickler of Zwolle, Mrs. Leta Cox of Montgomery, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Dr. Fleater Palmer Jr., Ralph Ballentine, and Charlie Ross. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
