Petty 1 Feb 1929 - Mrs. M. B. Petty, whose age was far in the 70s, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Jackson, at Orange, Texas, Monday and was buried at the Jerusalem cemetery near Many, on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Petty was the widow of the late Marshall V. Petty, a native of Tennessee. Her maiden name was Byles, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Valmore Byles who were among the oldest settlers in Sabine parish and were prominent factors in its early settlement and history. "Aunt Mollie", as she was familiarly called, was an old-fashioned high-minded Christian woman. She always had a helping hand for the needy, a kind word for everybody. She was a good neighbor, a kind mother and everyone who knew her loved her. She reared a large family, children surviving being as follows: Marion V. Petty of Many, Prof. Crit Petty of Ida, La., Dr. Morgan Petty of DeRidder, Mrs. Lizzie Jackson of Orange, Texas, Mrs. Alice Lewis of St. Louis, Mo., W. B. Petty of Peason, Homer Petty of Ida and Laurence Petty
