Petty, 94, died March 21, in Many, after an extended illness. Surviving relatives include one son, Marshall Petty of Many; two daughters, Mrs. Caroline Liggett, and Mrs. Flossie Snell, both of Many; one sister, Mrs. Alice Lewis of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Many, on March 22, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Perry Lassiter, and Rev. W. H. Bengston officiating. Masonic graveside rites were in Jerusalem Cemetery. Burial was under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Joe Palmer, W. E. Lafitte, Frank Folden, Walker R. Walker, J. S. Salter, and T. J. Cutrer.
